Can I try it for free?

Yes. Sign up for the Free plan, no credit card needed. Every day, AI checks newly registered domains for sites copying yours, and look-alike spellings of your domain are checked every 3 days. You can confirm up to 3 fakes a month, and they're reported to the blocklists behind Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Android. Free doesn't include takedowns. When you want a site taken down, add a takedown for $199 on its case, or move to Pro. Paid plans don't have a separate trial period.

Which plan do I need?

Count the fake copies of your site that are online today. Pro takes up to 3 a month, Business up to 10, Enterprise up to 20. Beyond that, any plan can add one at $199, or move up.

What are the limits on Free?

Accepted Answer

One brand and one seat. Newly registered domains are checked every day, and look-alike spellings of your domain every 3 days. You can confirm up to 3 fakes a month, and they're reported to browser warning lists; a takedown comes with Pro, or costs $199 per site on Free. Reported sites are checked every hour, and you get a report page for your customers. If no one opens a Free workspace's dashboard for 14 days, its scans and checks pause (the report page keeps taking reports, and a $199 takedown carries on as usual); opening the dashboard resumes them.

Why keep paying when nothing is happening?

Accepted Answer

A fake can come back, or a new one can open on another domain, at any time. We check every site we took down each day and, once you confirm, report the ones that come back without using a takedown. Your plan already covers the next ones.

Is there yearly billing?

Accepted Answer

Not on this page. After three months on a plan, write to us and we can move you to yearly billing: 12 months for the price of 10.

Question 6

How do I switch plans?

Accepted Answer

In Billing, in your dashboard. An upgrade takes effect once the difference is paid: a new monthly period starts that day, and the unused part of your current plan is credited. A downgrade takes effect at your next renewal. For Enterprise, email us.

Question 7

What if I use up my takedowns during an attack?

Accepted Answer

When you confirm a site with no takedowns left, its case page says so. Scanning keeps running, and the site still goes to the browser warning lists. To have it taken down, add a takedown for $199 on its case, on any plan, or upgrade and use the new plan's takedowns. Next month's arrive on the 1st (UTC). A site that comes back on a domain we already took down doesn't count again.

How fast do you start?

These are targets, not guarantees. Reports that go out automatically are sent when you confirm. The first report that needs a person goes out within 2 business days on Pro and 1 business day on Business and Enterprise, counted from when you have confirmed and your authorization letter is in. These targets cover new, unrelated groups of fake sites each month: one group on Pro, two on Business, three on Enterprise. Work on further unrelated groups that month starts within 5 business days.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel anytime in Billing, in your dashboard, and you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Refunds: a full refund any time before the first report goes out, and your first payment back if none of the sites we take on has had any effect 30 days after our first report. The first-payment refund applies once, must be requested within 30 days after that, and doesn't apply if we couldn't start because your authorization letter was missing. An added $199 takedown is fully refunded until we send its first report. The Subscription & Refund Policy has the details.

How is my data secured?

Traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2 or higher) and OpenBait stores no passwords: sign-in is by emailed link, Google or GitHub, or a passkey. The Security page lists where data is stored, every sub-processor, where a reported URL is sent, and what is not in place yet.

Is the report page included in every plan?

Yes. Every plan, including Free, comes with a public report page at openbait.com/report/your-brand, where your customers can paste a suspicious link and see what we found. You can link to it from your help page. From Business up, the “Run by OpenBait” line at the foot of the page can be switched off.

Question 12

What are copy alerts (Canary Tokens)?

Small tripwires you place in your own site: a script, an image, a link, or a hidden field. On the domains you list as yours, they stay silent. When someone copies your site to another domain, the copy loads the tripwire and we alert you with where it showed up. The alert records what that request carried (the page it came from, the IP address and its approximate location, and the browser), which is how we tell a clone from a crawler. Free includes 5, Pro 30 with noise filtering, and Business and Enterprise unlimited.

Do you take down impersonator accounts on social media?

Social media accounts aren't part of the takedown service yet, and they don't use your takedowns. What we do is find and score them: we check YouTube, X, TikTok, and Instagram for accounts that copy your name, picture, or bio, and score how close each one is, every day on paid plans and every 3 days on Free. Plans include 1, 3, 20, or 50 watched accounts.

How automated is the response?

Reports to the browser blocklists go out automatically. Reports to hosting providers and registrars are sent by OpenBait once you confirm the site is fake. Each case shows how far it has got.
